Hello Sommers,

As the equipment officer for the Penrith District Cricket Club Inc. I have held this position for the past 5 years. Our club participates in the Sydney Grade Cricket Competition. We have 8 mens and 1 womens teams competing throughout the summer months. I am a volunteer for the club in my position and the pre season is a very busy time of year.

Our players are fitted out with training and playing uniforms prior to season commencement and the job was at first overwhelming. Taking over this position at first I kept the status quo with regards to suppliers for what I thought was ease of management, however it quickly became apparent that I needed to make some changes. I needed to have a greater flexibility in ordering as player personnel changes so too their requirements.

I also wanted our club to have a point of difference with our clothing and equipment rather than choosing designs from a catalogue and trying to make them fit our club theme. It was very hard to find a supplier that wanted to embark on a range that was not in their catalogues or on their racks.

Then there is cost! Pushing a supplier to produce something that would give our club that “WOW” factor also came at a much greater cost. We are a not for profit club and rely solely on player registration fees and sponsorship every season to continue so costs in this area need to be controlled.

John Rennie from Sommers Cricket had been supplying many of our players over previous seasons with personal items such as bats, gloves and other protective wear. I mentioned my frustrations and ideas to John regarding the clothing. We had a meeting where we detailed the clubs budget and worked on designs that would certainly have the “wow” factor but also have reasonable longevity so the process is easily replicated the following season freeing up some of my time. John came back to me in a week and the package was amazing.

I want to thank you for your time yesterday.  You really looked after me and the whole shopping experience was a pleasure.

The bat, gloves, helmet and pads were well fitted and the boys are very happy.

Hi Steve,

Just had a chance to properly have a look over the Willetton Crows playing shirts that arrived the other day. The supplied product is great quality, great value and on time.

Thanks to you, John Rennie and the excellent team at Sommers for your support of the Crows. Although we ran out of time to organise our association apparel this year we will definitely come to you next year to have all our association shirts, shorts and game day tee shirts done.
